Cup Check

"Torey Krug #47 of the Boston Bruins checks Robert Thomas #18 of the St. Louis Blues during the third period in Game One of the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Final at TD Garden on May 27, 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts."

I am not going to lie, sports plays happen so fast that a small percentage of the time instincts and reaction are the only thing that help get the shot.

Torey Krug of the Boston Bruins check on Robery Thomas in Game One of the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Final was neither - and easily predictable.

Anyone familiar with hockey, or sports in general, saw it coming seconds before when Krug got tied up with another opponent down the ice.

What reminded me of a 12-year-old self, it looked like a retaliation was about to occur as he skated as fast as he could down ice following the tangle.

The hit was a big one. The play of the game. Now six games later, the Bruins will be looking for another momentum changer as they go to the iconic Game Seven with hopes of hoisting the Stanley Cup.

Second Base Battle

"Richie Martin #1 of the Baltimore Orioles (R) steals second base as Eduardo Nunez #36 of the Boston Red Sox attempts to make the out during the eighth inning at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on May 8, 2019 in Baltimore, Maryland."

Some will say early season play in any sport equals less excitement - I don't believe it for a second.

Sure there is nothing like a game seven in a any given playoff in any given sport. But that doesn't mean athletes are going through the motions in attempt to coast to that historic game.

And that's why I love sports. One can be in the same satdium day after day, yet they have no idea what will happen.

Thus was the case in this second base battle.

A strong effort by both Eduardo Nunez of the Boston Red Sox and Richie Martin of the Baltimore Orioles made for a great picture that could easily mimic a game-changing playoff play.
